Patient has moderate sagging of facial tissues because of aging and sun exposure. She would like to improve her features and would like to try PDO threads. 7 PDO threads were inserted in different vectors for her face to improve the laxity and provide a “face lift” (sans surgery). She was pleased with the results and PDOs threads are also known to stimulate collagen production, hence a continuous improvement was seen for this patient over time.

PDO Threads insertion
The patient is first anesthesized using 1% lidocaine superficially. PDO threads were inserted at the SMAS layer of the skin through an insertion point near the ear. Vectors to lift tissues are considered. A total of 4 PDO threads were inserted on each side and a retaining thread were used to hold the lift of the facial structures. She had no pain during the procedure. Post-procedure, patient continues to have pain 1 week post procedure but was relieved by tylenol. The changes on the face continues 3-6 months after the procedure as collagen production increases the the PDO threads dissolve over time. Patient was extremely happy with the results.
